Anyone aged 18 years or older with a valid driver’s license can rent a car. International customers must have an International Driving Permit (IDP) issued under the 1949 Geneva Convention, along with their original driver’s license and passport.

Your rental with Booking Group normally will include collision damage & theft protection waivers. Collision Damage Waiver will waive your liability to pay for any damage caused to the vehicle during the period of rental.

Theft waiver provides coverage for the theft or damage resulting from attempted theft of the vehicle, its parts and accessories up to their full value and any loss that our car rental partner may occur. Both are subject to certain exclusions.

Your liability is waived subject to you paying a charge, referred to as an excess which limits your liability to the cost of the excess only. In the event that the renter has behaved recklessly or negligently or driven under the influence of drugs or alcohol you may be liable for the full cost damage.

Please note in common with most car rental policies there are exceptions to cover which may include windscreens, tires, the underside or interior of the vehicle, towing charges & replacement keys.

Please check your agreement fully at the time of renting for exact exclusions. Please note a number of options may be available to buy locally, which reduce your risk or can provide further cover to you and your belongings.

Absolutely. All our vehicles are prepared for Hokkaido’s winter conditions, and winter tires are provided during the snow season to ensure safe driving.

Yes. Our staff can assist you in English, and we are happy to help with directions, driving tips, and rental questions.

Yes. We offer both short-term and long-term rentals. Please contact us for special long-term rates.

Yes. Foreign visitors are welcome to rent from us. You will need:

  • A valid passport
  • An International Driving Permit (IDP)
  • Your original driver’s license

Accepted licenses are below:

1. International driving permit under the Convention of Road Traffic on Sep. 19, 1949 (Height: 148mm Width: 105mm).

2. Authorized Japanese Translation for driver’s license issued in Switzerland, Germany, France, Taiwan, Belgium, and Monaco.

3. Japanese driver’s license.

A passport must be presented at the time of car pickup except for number 3
